I put offending child in room (time out) and close the door. They can kick, scream, cry whatever safely in there. Then I go downstairs (or as far as you can safely get) and breathe for a little while, drink something cooling and sit until my blood pressure returns to normal and I can go back and deal with offending behavior-Rachel
Ditto here. I put Emma in her room, shut the door and go out to the kitchen. Put some music on, take some deep breaths and grab a snack or something to drink. Usually by the time I go to get her, she's so upset she just wants to snuggle (or sometimes if I'm super lucky she puts herself to sleep)
